The All Progressives Congress candidate for Imo North (Okigwe) Senatorial district for the December 5 bye-election, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, has dismissed speculations that the immediate past speaker of the Imo State Assembly, Chiji Collins, was impeached for holding a meeting with him.
This was contained in a statement by Ararume Media Team in Owerri, on Monday.
The statement read in part, “Our attention has been drawn to a reckless claim that the impeachment of the former Speaker Collins was a consequence of a meeting between him and Ararume.
“We considered it worthwhile to give attention to this for record purposes which must be put straight to the public so that it won’t run with falsehood. To that affect, we wish to state categorically that there was no such meeting anywhere between Collins and Ararume.”
“Even since the lockdown came into effect as a measure to curb the spread of COVID 19, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume ever stepped out of Abuja, for the East except on September 2, 2020 when he came into the state for the APC Imo North primary which took place the following day, September 3, 2020. He left back for Abuja early morning on the 4th being the day after the primary without seeing any visitor in his house.”
